Services Offered

EMDR Therapy

Short for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, EMDR incorporates a back and forth movement called bilateral stimulation (BLS) while the individual focuses on aspects of their distress in order to facilitate a reprocessing effect in the brain similar to what the brain is doing during a REM (rapid eye movement) sleep cycle. This therapy has become a phenomenal way for individuals to address a variety of issues and has become a hallmark in addressing trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction and many other issues.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

"We feel the way we think" is a popular tagline espoused in this therapy. Considered by many to be the gold-standard among traditional talk therapies, CBT is an evidence-based practice which aims to help individuals identify, challenge and reduce errors/distortions in our thinking so that we may feel and act in a more balanced manner. This therapy has been proven to be effective in treating depression and anxiety by helping individuals establish and correct common errors in thinking which support these conditions.

Image Transformation Therapy

Developed by long-time EMDR practitioner Dr. Robert Miller, ImTT is a newer, groundbreaking therapy wherein clients use a visualized breathing technique to help separate the intense feelings, emotions and/or sensations from the distressing images we hold onto in our mind. This therapy follows the same model of processing found in EMDR therapy called the AIP (adaptive information processing) model and has the added benefit of being a very simple and gentle way for clients to process through their issues.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

A very skills-based therapy commonly used to help individuals manage their mood, behavior and relationships. This therapy is built on four pillars:

1.) Mindfulness- Staying present, grounded and connected

2.) Emotional Regulation Skills- Everyday coping skills

3.) Distress Tolerance Skills- Emergency coping skills.

4.) Interpersonal Effectiveness Skills- Social and relational skills

Safe and Sound Protocol

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based therapy which involves listening to specially filtered music in order to help re-tune the nervous system. This protocol works well in tandem with other therapies and has demonstrated benefits for individuals with trauma, various forms of anxiety, sensory processing issues and more. After completing the SSP, individuals commonly report experiencing improved mood stability, social engagement and resiliency to adverse circumstances.

Faith-based Counseling

Does your life seem to lack a sense of meaning, purpose and direction? Are you perhaps struggling to live your life in accordance with your values and what you believe in? Have you experienced a form of religious/spiritual trauma that you’re still holding onto to this day? Depending upon your needs, background and interests, I am trained in and able to incorporate modern therapies in conjunction with values and teachings from the Catholic-Christian tradition to help individuals heal past wounds and/or develop a clearer understanding of their purpose, mission and identity in Christ.

Sand Tray Therapy

Using sand, a tray and various miniatures/objects that go within the tray, this therapy serves as a mode of expression and processing for children, adolescents and adults alike. Benefits of this modality involve: added sensory input which can help promote calm and self-regulation, a tool for visual learners who struggle with the exclusive use of verbal language in their processing and the ability to incorporate most prominent therapies such as EMDR, CBT and IFS (internal family systems) into this mode of expression.

Internal Family Systems

IFS helps individuals process their experiences by taking a more in-depth look into our internal emotional world and personifying (as emotional parts with specific roles) various ways of thinking, feeling and acting. In short, by facilitating communication between our different emotional parts, IFS seeks to identify “extremes” (i.e.- roles/behavior) and bring increased harmony in our own internal family system. While this therapy has many applications, IFS is a standard in the treatment of individuals with higher levels of dissociation.
